Managing Director
Sue Cooper has worked in education for 30 years, first as a PE Teacher, eventually becoming Head of Physical Education and Head of Year. For the last 8 years Sue has been a full-time School Sport Co-ordinator and then the Partnership Development Manager of the Rawmarsh School Sport Partnership. During this time she has supported colleagues in primary, secondary and special schools in their delivery of High Quality Physical Education both in and out of the curriculum.
Her interest in Ballroom and Latin American dancing began when she observed the effect of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ TV show on young people and adults' enthusiasm to learn this type of dance. Through Big Lottery funding she embarked on a massive ‘Out of Hours’ programme for the 69 schools in the Rawmarsh Partnership. This led to a National Award for the initiative and its impact on students and their communities.
Sue is also a National Board Member and a National Trainer for afPE (Association for Physical Education) as well as a member for the Yorkshire and Humber area and a member of their Conference Planning Group. Her work with the Association supports the ‘High Quality Teaching and Learning’ agenda and its impact on young peoples' lives.
Sue has been granted a one year secondment from her PDM post to be the National Co-ordinator for Essentially Dance. She works with all the Directors and with The Aldridge Foundation to ensure that all aspects of the programme are running smoothly.
