Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova, stars from the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing show, today (June 22) launched Essentially Dance - a training programme to teach Ballroom and Latin American Dance in school PE lessons at the Royal Festival Hall, London.
It follows a report from Roehampton University that evaluated a pilot scheme in 29 schools across the UK, which found teaching Ballroom dance to school children can improve fitness, self esteem and behaviour. Shy children became more confident, less sporty children enjoyed this exercise and there was less disruption in classes.
