Case Studies

During the pilot phase, we have worked with 29 schools across the UK, as well as taking advance bookings for after this phase. 

In Darwen, we have worked with Darwen Aldridge Community Academy, along with its feeder primaries.  The Academy has led community based events around the programme which have brought in parents and other stakeholders, who have all enjoyed the ED experience.

In Salford, primary school children worked together on cross-curricula projects, creating a wall of pictures and written work.

In the other pilot areas - Bromley, Rotherham and Brighton - schools have taken the initiative in a similar fashion.

Following the conclusion of the pilot phase, detailed case studies will be shown on the website, which will give an insight into how successful the programme is, and how schools can use the resources throughout the school as a basis for written projects, history, geography and science, as well as other community based projects.

Please can I take this opportunity to thank the 'Essentially Dance' team who led the Beginners workshop on Thursday 22nd October at Wildern School, Southampton.

I am a male PE teacher who lacks confidence, co-ordination and above all, enthusiasm when it comes to dancing, however, after spending a day with your team I am now looking for a local Latin American dance school for my wife and I to attend. The team of women made it a thoroughly enjoyable occasion for everyone who attended. The balance of theory to practical was just right and their enthusiasm, patience and willingness to help us as individuals and as a group was fantastic!

It was also very refreshing to have a specialist organisation that clearly has a very good understanding of schools, and in particular, the National Curriculum across all Key Stages. Also, their appreciation of the everyday issues surrounding many schools such as race, gender and economic divides and their passion to use 'dance' to bring communities together.

The team were truly inspirational to all of us and have left us all wanting to promote and encourage dancing within our school and our communities. The only part of the day I did not enjoy was admitting to my work colleagues that I did actually enjoy it VERY MUCH! I am now looking forward to the next two sessions but wish I didn't have to wait quite so long.

So may I thank you all once again and wish you every continued success for the future.
